For: officially 2–4 day trips, laptop-and-documents kits, personal-item carry, and anyone who wants briefcase carry in an office.
Official 20L: expands 20L→30L, 22 pockets, fold-down laptop compartment, RFID-safe and hidden back-panel pockets, magnetic bottle pockets, backpack-to-briefcase straps. Laptop 16"; tablet 14". Unexpanded, Nomatic calls it a personal item on most airlines. US list $349.99.
That is the organized personal-item job in this trio: personal item, organization, 2–4 day, laptop travel pack. If that is your trip, this is the pack that matches it — walk away if a con below rules you out.
Honest cons (from the official page) — we do not hide these
- Heavy empty. 4 lb 1 oz before you pack anything. Nomatic’s own review summary (last updated 25 Feb 2026) says some customers note the bag feels heavy because of robust construction.
- Sized for taller frames. Official table recommends the 20L for 5'9" and taller. Shorter travelers are steered to the 14L (14L → 21L), which is a different trip-length product.
- Zipper wear shows up in the official summary; Nomatic points to its lifetime warranty. A verified-buyer quote notes waist straps are sold separately.
- $349.99 US list — more than WANDRD’s $254 bag-only 31L and far more than Bagsmart’s $89.99 28–38L. You are paying for the organizer layout and personal-item claim, not for a cheaper empty weight.

Look at this instead if you want a weather-resistant camera/travel backpack with a published carry-on shell and the listed $254.00 bag-only price. It is not a 22-pocket briefcase organizer.
Official PRVKE 31L V4 (bag-only, Black, SKU PK31-BK-4): 31L–35L, 3.3 lb / 1.49 kg, 18.5" H × 12" W × 6.5" D (47 × 30.5 × 16.5 cm) without the rolltop extended. Laptop sleeve listed up to 16" (sleeve 13.5" H × 10.5" W × 1" D) plus a tablet sleeve. Clamshell opening, rolltop + zippered rolltop access, quick-draw side access, hidden passport pocket, luggage passthrough, AirTag sleeve, camera-cube compatible. Materials listed: P900D tarpaulin, N840D ballistic nylon, YKK zippers. US official page showed bag-only in stock at $254.00 on 29 August 2026. WANDRD’s FAQ: the 21L, 31L, and 41L are carry-on size. That is not a personal-item claim. 18.5 × 12 × 6.5 in unextended is still carry-on wording, not under-seat; expanded rolltop and a camera cube change the profile. Waist belt is compatible, sold separately (Waist Belt V2 listed $34 on the same site). Bags are weather-resistant, not submersion-proof.
Honest cons (from official copy / spec)
- No personal-item claim. Official wording is carry-on. Do not buy this as a guaranteed under-seat bag.
- Camera bag first. Side access and cube compatibility are the product. Buyers who want 22 labeled organizer pockets and briefcase conversion are shopping the Nomatic job, not this one.
- Waist belt sold separately. Same class of extra as Nomatic’s hip belt note.
- WANDRD also sells TRANSIT 35L ($299, in stock 27 Aug 2026) as a dedicated travel backpack — larger, 19.5 × 11.5 × 8.5–10.5 in, 4.1 lb. That is a different job than this 31L pick.

Unexpanded 7 in depth is the closer personal-item-shaped setting. 10 in and 13 in are carry-on / week depth. Taskin’s own under-seat products (Swift, Maximus) are wheeled hybrids, not this backpack — we are not substituting those.

- Sold out on taskinsf.com (27 Aug 2026). Do not treat this as a live buy until checkout says otherwise.
- Expanded 13 in depth (33 cm) is not an under-seat profile. 40L is a different job than Nomatic’s unexpanded 20L.
- Laptop inch size not listed. 180° TSA-friendly is the claim. 16" owners should confirm at checkout.
- Most other Taskin travel SKUs on the homepage that day were also sold out; Aviator (a wheeled carry-on) was the exception — not this backpack.

Unexpanded 12.2" × 16.5" × 8.1" (31 × 42 × 20.5 cm); expanded 12.2" × 16.5" × 10" (31 × 42 × 25.5 cm). Lockable laptop sleeve up to 15.6", ventilated stowable shoe compartment, adjustable divider, RFID pocket, diamond ripstop nylon, exterior YKK zippers. Copy on the same page says 3–5 day trips and carry-on approved; the spec table says 5–7 days and Underseat Approved. Both wordings are official — we are not picking a winner. Honest cons (from official specs)
- Laptop max is 15.6". Nomatic 20L and WANDRD PRVKE 31L both list 16".
- Underseat vs carry-on. The brand uses both. 8.1–10 in / 20.5–25.5 cm depth is the check-the-airline point. Expanded 38L is not Nomatic’s unexpanded personal-item job.
- Warranty on the page is mixed. Shipping block lists a 1-year warranty; a footer block also mentions lifetime coverage on manufacturing faults. Read the checkout / warranty text, do not treat our summary as the contract.
- $89.99 is the listed US price we saw — not a “we tested it and it beats $350” claim. This is official-spec inclusion, not hands-on praise.

None of them on every airline. Nomatic lists the unexpanded 20L as a personal item on most airlines. WANDRD lists PRVKE 31L (and the smaller 21L sibling) as carry-on size. Taskin publishes 19 × 12 × 7/10/13 in. Bagsmart lists Blast Pro 38L as carry-on and underseat approved. Confirm the sizer.
What about Osprey Farpoint 40 or Cotopaxi Allpa 42L?
